Message From Our Owners

blog detective

As one of the industry’s earliest movers (opening in 2014) we are often watched, and even contacted, by fans, those in the industry, other owners, etc.  Since so many have reached out to us in one capacity or another, we thought we would take a moment to address you all.  First and foremost, to our clients that keep us employed and help us feed our families:  From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for choosing Exodus. It is no longer 2014 with the nearest competitor an hour away.  We know you have choices and we are so very appreciative that you chose us!  You are who we come to work for, day after day, year after year.  You and your family, coworkers, and friends, are who we love to serve.   Some of you families, since you are already together daily, have come to support us and booked an

Our 5 Year Anniversary!

5 Year Thumbnail

Exodus just celebrated it’s 5 Year Anniversary and we couldn’t be more proud or excited!  The last five years have been full of amazing adventures and we look forward to seeing what the next five years will bring!  I’m going to take you back through the past 5 years of escape rooms and Exodus! Brief history of the industry: When we first opened in 2014, we were one of the few escape rooms in the country and the first escape room in Orange County.  At that point, very few people had heard of, let alone played, an escape room.  They were barely entering the public view and many people weren’t sure they wanted to experience one.  Fast forward five years and escape rooms can be found all around the world, as well as in popular media.  They have quickly become a popular experience and Exodus has been around since the

Team Building at Exodus!

Team Building Events

Team building/bonding: a term that brings excitement to some and horror to others.  They are one of those things that no one can quite agree on.  Some people love them, some people hate them, and some just don’t care at all!  They often consist of groups of people who have different skills and interests, which can make it challenging when searching for an activity that everyone will enjoy. Well, I’m here at Exodus Escape Room to give you an idea for a super successful team building activity!  …and yes, it is an escape room!  Trust me, I’m aware that I am biased, but escape rooms really are an amazing team building or team bonding experience!  They allow your group to get away from the office and experience something entirely new together for an hour!  It allows them to work together, figuring out fun problems and puzzles, while completely taking their

Tips from Escape Room Employees!

Tips From Escape Room Employees

Who better to ask for tips about escape rooms then people who run escapes every day?!  Our team has seen thousands of people attempt our rooms and therefore has seen people make all the mistakes!  When I asked a few of them what their top tips were, in regards to playing escape rooms, this was what they said: “My biggest tip is to try everything (unless it involves breaking something)!  If somebody in your group has an idea, give it a shot before moving on, it could be exactly what you need.  It also helps to try a few different things before putting something down.  I see a lot of groups come really close to solving something and give up before they finish!”  -Aaron, Escape Coordinator “Try to think like the escape room designer!  We want you to succeed, so we often include subtle hints to guide you in the

Debunking Common Escape Room Concerns!

Debunking Common Concerns!

As the first escape room to open in Orange County, we have interacted with thousands of clients over the years, and have often run into people who have never heard of, or played, an escape room before.  When I say that I lock people up for a living, it tends to lead to some confusion and quite a few questions.  Over the years, I have heard many different concerns about trying an escape room, and today I will debunk some of those fears! I’m too scared to try an escape room! While there are plenty of fear-based rooms out there, Exodus has never had, and will never have, scary rooms.  As someone who gets scared very easily (seriously, it’s ridiculous how easily I jump-scare), I was happy to find an escape room company that is not fear-based!  All of our rooms are family friendly.  They do not involve horror themes,

Mother’s Day Escape!

Mother's Day Post

Mother’s Day is fast approaching (May 12th this year everyone)! If there was one thing we did not expect when opening the first escape room in Orange County, it was that Mother’s Day would be so busy! We expected that moms would want the usual: brunch, favorite restaurant, maybe a day in the park, etc. Boy were we wrong! Turns out, moms love a mystery! Not to mention being able to search for clues and solve that mystery with their husbands, sons, daughters, and grandchildren! In fact, for our first Mother’s Day, we staffed lightly because we figured that everyone would be doing other things that day, not playing escape rooms! Oh, how wrong we were! As bookings kept flooding in, we quickly realized that Mother’s Day was going to be busy! What can I say, apparently the lure of solving a mystery with their family was too enticing to

Conversation with a Client!

Lola Picture

One thing that we pride ourselves on here at Exodus is providing our clients with an absolutely amazing experience!  We love having return clients, and we always make sure that they have a memorable escape every time.  Recently, we had a very special return client and it truly made our day! On October, 6th, 2015, Lola came and played her first ever escape room at the Exodus Anaheim location.  On that momentous day, she played our original Sherlock’s Study and had such a great time that she came back later that same day to conquer our Trap room (which to this day remains one of her favorite games).  After that, she was hooked!  In the past 4 years, Lola has gone on to play more than 30 other escape rooms, from Anaheim to San Francisco to Chicago, including rooms at 3 of our locations across California!  Just recently, Lola returned

Wedding Parties at Exodus!

2019-03-01

As escape room employees, one of the most common questions we get is “Would an escape room be a good activity for…”  There are many phrases that we could use to finish that inquiry: birthday parties, team building, family nights, etc.  Our answer to that question is almost always “Of course!”  Escape rooms are so versatile and are a great and unique activity for many different events.  Another ending to that question is “a date night” or “a bachelor/bachelorette party.”  Yet again, our answer is “Definitely!” Many people say that an escape room is an awesome date night activity.  It’s fun, exciting, and different than the normal dinner-and-a-movie date.  While we are in total agreement there (it’s an amazing bonding experience), we want to take it a step further!  Not only is it a good date night activity, we propose that it is the perfect place to do just that,

We frequently partner with local universities to bring escape experiences to them!  This time, however, a local university came to us!  Here’s what they had to say about it! “Can You Escape This Room? A Sherlock themed escape room By Andy Lizarraga Tucked away in the back of a Rowland Height plaza is an adventure waiting to happen. Right next to a martial arts studio, The Exodus Escape Room is available for those who are willing to be trapped in a room with a mess of hints and clues in order to find a key they can escape with. Exodus Escape Room has five different locations in Anaheim, San Bernardino, Rowland Heights, Rancho Cucamonga and Monterey Bay. The most common room between all of the location seems to be “Sherlock’s Study,” a Sherlock Holmes themed room. At the Rowland Heights location, “Sherlock’s Study” and “Apocalypse” are available. For my adventure,
